Twilight

My newest obsession is the book series Twilight by Stephenie Meyer. It is absolutely wonderful! I have never read books so quickly in my life. That doesn't really say much since I am not one to be known for my reading endeavors. This series has been a phenomenon for some time now, but never knew anyone who had read it. Many people are comparing it to the Harry Potter series. I don't know enough about about to say anything about it. It's just what "they" (the Mormons) say. I must admit that at first I was skeptical when my friend Jenseph was telling me about how complete enthralled she was into this series. This book is about a high school girl who falls in love with a vampire! I mean really?!! I've never really been into anything too teeny-bopper (even when I was a teeny-bopper myself.) and vampires aren't really on my top list of hot topics that I want to discuss. It sounded completely LAME, but after chapter 2 I was completely and utterly hooked!

First of all it is such a easy read, not like other authors who lose me in too much detail. There is definitely the gushy love story to it that makes make me happy, but the best part is the suspense of the whole premise of the book. Each chapter has you leaving wanting more. It's ridiculous! The dilemma in the book is that a human and vampire are in love, so the fact that a human is in the vampire world is very dangerous.

I've already finished the second book in the series New Moon. It is completely different from Twilight which I liked because it is not what I expected at all. Although Edward (the love interest) is not in it enough and I began to miss him terribly! At the expense of Edward's absense the plot does thicken with a love triangle for Bella (the main character) with family friend, Jacob. But it was inevitable that Edward returns because he is Bella's one true love...blah, blah, blah!I am now on the third book Eclipse. I can't to see where the story leads! Friends tell me that it is completely different from Twilight and New Moon.

One of the reasons why I started to read the series is because I've never read a book before it was made into a movie. Normally, I see the movie and love it and then think I should read the book. So I've never fully understood the "book was way better than the movie" concept. I will admit that I read I am Legend, but I never got around to see the movie. I digress. Being as I am now a "teeny-bopper" obsessed fan of the series, I cannot wait until the movie comes out on 11.21.08! You can see a trailer for the movie here: http://www.stepheniemeyer.com/twilight_movie.html Of course after watching the trailer no one looks like I had pictured in my head, but I was surprised to see that to see the actors quoting several lines from the book. Apparently, Stephenie Meyers was very involved with the movie and wanted it to reflect exactly how she pictured it to be.

My obsession has become unreal. (Thanks to Jenseph!) I've had vampire dreams at night, even one where I get a vampire bite tattoo on my neck. Really! I've even caught myself being interested in vampire things. Ex: I've DVRed this HBO show True Blood. It's suppose to be all about vampires. Because of Twilight, I am interested, otherwise I wouldn't ever be. Since it is on HBO why not?

I'm not really even ashamed over my obsession. So what if I'm a complete and utter loser. I'm OK with that and can live with myself. I'll try to even spread the good news (agape if you will). Well I better get to reading...two more books to go! woohoo!

The Winner...

In this picture there is 45 items that amount to over 10,300 calories & 460 grams of fat! That is disgusting! The vending machine challenge was expanded when Deanna from the 9th floor said that she could eat everything in the vending machine and eat faster that than the male challenger on the 10th floor. So two Tuesday's ago... the challenge was on! Sadly neither one of them finished. :( The 10th floor challenger came the closest with 17 items remaining at the end of the day. Needless to say they both were hurting for the next couple of days. It was definitely the cheapest form of entertainment that our office has ever seen since no one had to pay up when neither one of them finished eating all the food.

This past Labor Day weekend I went to Lake Hamilton to spends some time catching some rays and spend some time with friends. The Haberer's were there and it was good to see them. As Dane would say, "We had a large time." I have some battle wounds to prove it from tubing to sun burns to "water diapers."

"The Office"

Late yesterday one of the traders in my office was talking to another out-of-state trader about a fund raiser that they had done in their office. They had raised $3000.oo in their office for a charity to watch a co-worker eat everything in the vending machine. Upon telling this story to brokers/traders around him, a broker bragged about how that would be easy and for $3000.00 or even $700.00 he could and would do it. This only provoked men around him to call him out on that statement. Today there has been a pool around the office to raise money so that participant will eat all the food in the vending machine. The conditions are: he has to eat all the food with in the hours of the office and he must keep it all down. If he fails no one has to pay up. There is over 10,000 calories with all the food in the vending machine. The snacks in the vending machine are as followed: an assortment of candy bars & chips, honey buns, pop-tarts, fruit snacks, two types of crackers, peanuts, and gum. I'm thinking that he will regret his decision. It is going to be horrible watching this guy suffer all day long on Friday. (evil laugh)

The point of this story is to tell about the many different events that go on in my office that keep me entertained. If you have ever seen the show on NBC "The Office,"my office is the epitome of that show in a lot of aspects. We are always trying to find small things to entertain us. For example, my friend Martha and I have a little game we call "Who is going to wear the yellow Polo shirt today?" Wagers seem to always be involved with the entertainment. I think that might be a guy think though... March Madness was a huge event. A couple of weeks ago two old men race in a 2mile run around a track. That was pretty exciting. I have this theory that the market is a sophicated game of gambling anyways. Everyone will always stragiges on these games too. Like the vending machine... Some people think that he will be able to do it if eats sugar product and then goes to a salty food (ie candy to chips to candy bar to peanuts). The time and thought that goes into the betting is insane.

One of my favorite things is to how we will pick out oddities about someone and harp on them. Ok...another example, there is a guy in our office that will go up to a mirror everyday to put on carmex, but he puts ton of it on all over his face. Why doesn't he just put it on at his desk if he didn't want to keep it on straight? Oh yeah, there is also the guy that checks his package in the mirror every morning. He thinks he does it discretely, but we all notice. This might not be all that funny to all the readers out there, but if you where here it's pretty funny.

I'm sure you all have funny workplace stories that make work worth going to. It's the small things that make the days last until the weekend. I even play games like this in my personal life... like when another car does something dumb while driving. I like guess whether it was a "old person or cell phone." About 90% of the time it is a old person driving or it is someone on their cell phone. I have even gotten friends in on it now.

Well I guess that is all I got for now... I'll get everyone posted on the vending machine event.

VACAY!

Ok... So it has been awhile since I have posted anything. 1. I lost my USB drive that had my pictures that I wanted to post of my vacay! I think that thing is gone forever! Not good news! 2. I'm still trying to figure out this whole blogger site. I will get there! Soon I HOPE!

Here are some pictures of my vacay to Florida! Casey, Jennifer, and I went to Hot Lana for one night to pick up Shanna where we had the best sushi. Then we were on our to Cocoa Beach, FL. We had a blast! We laid on the beach reading books during the daytime then hit the streets at night time. No worries, no planning just girls having fun! Thanks to George for letting us stay at his place! (even though his crack-dealer of a neighbor told me he was in love with me.---scary! BUY A HOUSE GEORGE) We stayed one night in Orlando. (pictured above) We shopped til we dropped and then went out for one of the best nights of our trip! Jennifer Karaoked and I took pictures with random people I didn't know. What more could we ask for (lol)? All in all we had a trip that I think that we all will not forget! Things we accomplished from our trip: 1. Time with Shanna 2. House hunting for George 3. badly needed Suntans 4. Aveda skin care. You can see more pictures here.... http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=2050977&id=7310165850977&id=73101658

One week after coming back from Florida, a bunch of us went to float the Buffalo River. It was definitely a large time. I am very grateful that we made it to camp ALIVE (luckily I didn't have to ride with Dane and go the wrong way down the river.) The river was up and we all could float without effort. Forget that... I WAS A ROWING FOOL! I was on it! My canoe partner (yay Andy!) even told me that I needed to stop several times because he wasn't even paddling anymore and it made him look bad. It was ridiculous. Jonathan and Casey gave Jennifer a swim lesson. But she couldn't really get anywhere on the river because on the current down stream. We all were having to stand firm on rocks to be able to stand in one place without floating away. That was half the fun!

The weather was wonderful. One wouldn't think that for the middle of July for ideal camping weather, but we couldn't have asked for better. It was cool in the water and hot in the canoe (which equals SUNTAN!) We made pit-stop along the way to stay cool-down. At night was perfect because we didn't need fans! By Sunday afternoon it was definitely time to go home. We were all way too hot/dirty/cranky. I connot wait until the next trip. Hopefully it will be soon! you can see all the pictures from this trip here http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=2051129&id=73101658

HELLO BLOGGING WORLD!

So Yeah... I have never blogged before, never done Xanga, or MySpace. So blooger this is a first for me in the "world of blogging." I'm not very good at writing things (more of a math kinda girl) and that is probably why I have delayed blogging for so long. I should probably add a DISCLAIMER: I can't spell worth CRAP. So please do not tell me about how I can't...just adapt and use phonics! I'm not an English major either (note: I'm a math girl) so I'm sure there will be some improper writing as well. With that said, let me continue..... It is very important for world to blog so that we are able to keep up with each other or as I like to call it "stalking" each other. I hope that I am able to write something that others would enjoy reading. The life of a 20 something is really not all that exciting, but maybe I'll be able to dramatize it enough to keep readers on edge. I love my life and am always having fun! Speaking of fun...this was probably a bad time to begin my blog because I'm going to be out of town for the next week! Florida HERE I COME! I am so pumped to FINALLY take a break. I also have 5 weekend trips planned as well.

My world before blogging:
It has been one year since I graduated from Arkansas Tech University and I now work for a Investment Banking Firm in Downtown Little Rock and loving it so far. Being out college was a very hard transition for me but I am in a good place now. The broker life is definitely a tuff business and I hope that I am able to meet the demands that this job requires of me. It can be so stressful at times and so boring at other times. Outside of work I have been blessed to have some of the best friends a girl could have, so most of my time is consumed with them. Since I have moved back to Rock-town I have become a part of a really great church family that is which is another big part of my life. I am really close to my family as well; especially, since the passing of my Grandmother (Mamo) recently. My family members are the ones that will stick by me no matter what. They are stuck with me! So I know that they will ALWAYS be there. With everything that I have going on I really don't make much time for anything else. I hope you will enjoy future post!
